With the release of the FX9, a new video look “S-Cinetone” is introduced. Installed in the FX9 “S-Cinetone” expresses the cinematic look cultivated from the Color Science in VENICE but tailored for the video world. Whereas VENICE and s709 provides images close to the film color found in movie and drama productions, “S-Cinetone” provides images with a more cinematic look in tone and color for the video world. As a result, you can create richer content compared to conventional processing.

User Created 3D LUTs make it easy to customize FX9’s look to your preferences. It is possible to import LUTs files from an SD card and store up to 16 files on the FX9’s internal memory and switch between them as needed. • Content Browser Mobile™** allows the PXW-FX9 to be controlled remotely from a smartphone or tablet computer via a Wi-Fi connection. Adjust the exposure level, zoom, Record/Stop and more via your mobile device—it’s ideal for single-operator shoots. One-touch authentication is also possible with smartphones offering NFC connectivity.
• FTP Transfer allows content files to be sent over the Internet for remote storage on an FTP server even while shooting. In the case of signal interruption, the system will automatically resume as soon as connection is restored.
• Trimming allows you to set start and end points in a clip, eliminating time-wasting transfers of unneeded content.
• XDCAM air can upload proxy footage to the cloud from multiple camera operators in the field, so editing can start immediately. Uploaded content can be accessed securely from any location. Firmware: PXW-FX9 V2.0 - 18/Sep/2020

There is a malfunction found in PXW-FX9 firmware V2.00 which was released recently. Please see the below new functions

Symptoms of malfunction

By using V2.00 installed PXW-FX9, with following setup, horizontal noise may be noticed in the captured and recorded images.

• Project - Rec Format - Imager Scan Mode : FFcrop 5K
• Technical - Lens – Distortion Comp. : Auto

Workaround

To avoid this malfunction for PXW-FX9 with V2.00 installed, please chose either 1 or 2 setup below.

• Project - Rec Format - Imager Scan Mode: other than FFcrop 5K
• Project - Rec Format - Imager Scan Mode: FFcrop 5K
  Lens – Distortion Comp. : Off* (*default setup is "Auto")
  Note that with this setup, lens distortion compensation process is not applied.
