xThe Audio-Technica AT8024 is a compact stereo and mono camera-mount condenser microphone designed to deliver significantly improved audio quality compared with the built-in microphones found on DSLR cameras, mirrorless cameras, and compatible camcorders. Its lightweight construction, integrated shoe mount, and permanently attached coiled output cable make it a practical solution for filmmaking, interviews, documentaries, events, and general video production.
Selectable line-cardioid mono and internally matrixed mid-side stereo modes provide flexibility for different recording situations. Mono mode focuses audio capture on a specific subject, making it suitable for dialogue and interviews, while stereo mode creates a wider and more realistic sound field for ambient sound, live events, and environmental recordings.
A three-position attenuator offers 0, -10, and -20 dB settings, allowing the microphone to handle both quiet passages and loud sound sources without distortion. The switchable 80 Hz low-frequency roll-off reduces unwanted ambient noise, room reverberation, wind noise, and mechanically transmitted vibrations.
Integrated rubber shock mounts help isolate the microphone from camera handling and operational noise. The AT8024 operates for approximately 80 hours from one AA battery and includes both a standard foam windscreen and a fuzzy windscreen for improved performance during outdoor recording.
