Description
xThe Audio-Technica AT831R is a miniature cardioid condenser lavalier microphone designed for professional recording, television production, presentations, sound reinforcement, and other demanding voice-capture applications. Its compact, low-reflectance black housing allows discreet placement on clothing while delivering crisp, clean, and full-sounding speech with excellent intelligibility.
The AT831R also performs effectively as an instrument microphone, particularly for acoustic guitar when used with the included AT8444 instrument adapter. Its cardioid polar pattern provides a focused 120° acceptance angle, reducing sound from the sides and rear to improve source isolation, suppress background noise, and provide greater gain before feedback.
The microphone features a permanently attached 4 m shielded cable with a TA3F connector that connects to the included AT8538 phantom-power module. The module provides a standard 3-pin XLR male output and incorporates a selectable 80 Hz UniSteep high-pass filter for reducing popping, traffic noise, ventilation systems, room reverberation, and mechanically transmitted vibrations. The AT831R operates exclusively from an 11–52V DC phantom-power source.
