Sony FX5 UAE Launch: An Immersive Cinema Night Experience
Behind the scenes of the Sony FX5 launch in the UAE — bringing filmmakers, cinematographers, creators, and the Sony Cinema Line together for an immersive hands-on experience.
United Broadcast & Media Solutions (UBMS), in collaboration with Sony Middle East & Africa, hosted a special Cinema Night in Dubai to mark the arrival of the Sony FX5 in the UAE.
Designed as more than a traditional product launch, the event transformed the introduction of the FX5 into an immersive filmmaking experience, giving industry professionals the opportunity to discover the camera, test its capabilities, and experience how it fits within the wider Sony Cinema Line.
Bringing the Sony FX5 Into a Real Production Environment
The evening brought together filmmakers, cinematographers, DOPs, content creators, and industry professionals from across the UAE for an interactive experience built around real-world production scenarios.
Instead of simply presenting the camera's specifications, attendees were invited to shoot, test, and experience the Sony FX5 firsthand across specially designed cinematic environments.
Two production setups were created for the night:
- A cinematic low-light set designed to explore the FX5's performance in challenging lighting conditions.
- A virtual production environment featuring an LED wall and a Spider-Man-inspired rooftop scene, combining filmmaking technology with an immersive creative concept.
Attendees could work directly with the camera, experiment with different shooting conditions, and see the resulting footage throughout the experience.
More Than a Camera Launch
The Cinema Night was designed around one idea: experience the technology through filmmaking.
Alongside the Sony FX5, attendees explored the wider Sony Cinema Line, discovering how different cameras can complement different production requirements and workflows.
The event also featured a dedicated technical and creative session led by DOP and Sony Ambassador Ashraf Fathy, followed by hands-on shooting, demonstrations, industry conversations, and networking.
From camera technology and low-light performance to virtual production and real-world shooting workflows, the evening brought the filmmaking community together around the launch of Sony's latest Cinema Line addition.
