Creative Control Knobs
The control knobs are grouped into four sets of three knobs, each dedicated to specific color-correction functions:
- Luminance:
- Y Lift Control: Adjusts contrast in darker areas of the image within the Y (luminance) channel, allowing changes to the black point without affecting saturation.
- Y Gamma Control: Adjusts contrast in mid-tone areas within the Y (luminance) channel, adding depth and vibrancy to shots.
- Contrast:
- Contrast Control: Increases or decreases overall contrast to make blacks darker and whites brighter.
- Pivot: Changes the center of tonality around which dark and bright parts of the image are stretched or narrowed during contrast adjustments.
- Mid-Tone Detail: Enhances or reduces the perception of sharpness and definition in regions with high edge detail. Often used for softening facial features in beauty shots.
- Detail:
- Color Boost Control: Increases saturation in low-saturation regions while leaving properly saturated areas unaffected. Also known as a vibrance operation.
- Shadow Control: Lightens or darkens shadow details without affecting mid-tones.
- Highlight Control: Recovers blown-out highlight details in high dynamic range media, achieving a smooth blend between highlights and mid-tones.
- Saturation:
- Saturation Control: Increases or decreases overall image saturation, enabling grayscale conversion if desired.
- Hue Control: Rotates all hues of the image around the 360° color wheel. The default setting retains the original hue distribution.
- Luminance Mix Control: Balances YRGB adjustments with Y-only adjustments made using lift, gamma, and gain controls.
